- One small business, first tool: Otterly.AI, $29 a month for 15 prompts on four engines.
- Agencies and growing brands: Peec AI, $95 for 50 prompts on three engines of your choice, unlimited seats.
- Multi-location brands that want agent analytics too: Scrunch, $300 for seven engines with AI agent monitoring built in.
- Enterprise teams: Profound, nine engines, agent analytics and an AI marketer, priced by quote.
- Already on an SEO suite: Semrush's toolkit or Ahrefs Brand Radar, whichever you already pay for.
- Building or moving your site anyway: cite-met, hosting with AI crawler analytics. We own it, so it isn't scored.
Every tool below is described from one dataset of prices, plans and documented features, and scored on the same six-part rubric. We read each vendor's pricing page and documentation on November 1, 2026. We didn't run the tools side by side, and we take no affiliate commissions or vendor payments. We do own cite-met, which is why it carries a disclosure and no score.
Not sure you need a paid tool? Many small businesses don't. Our guide to tracking AI visibility yourself covers the free reports from Google, Bing and GA4 and a monthly prompt sheet, and says where that stops being enough.

What 20 prompts on four engines actually costs
Entry prices hide how each tool's limits bite. Here's what a realistic small-business setup costs: 20 prompts (say, five services in three towns plus five brand questions), checked regularly on about four engines.
| Tool | Cheapest plan that fits | Monthly cost | What's missing or extra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | Standard (Lite stops at 15 prompts) | $189 | Trim to 15 prompts and it's $29 |
| Peec AI | Starter | $95 | Three engines; a fourth is an extra, unpublished price |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | Base toolkit | $99 per user | Daily prompt tracking documented only for ChatGPT and AI Mode |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | $50 custom prompt pack (2,400 of 2,500 checks) | $50 + a paid Ahrefs plan | Base plan requirement varies; Ahrefs Lite is $129 |
| AthenaHQ | Starter (2,400 of 3,600 credits) | $295 | The free plan's 300 credits last about four days at this rate |
| Scrunch | Starter | $300 | Uses 20 of 350 prompts; refresh every 72 hours |
| Profound | Enterprise | Quote only | Trial prompts can't be customised |
| cite-met (ours) | Growth | $700 | Mention tracking only from this plan; not a prompt tracker |
Prices from each vendor's page, monthly billing, checked November 1, 2026. Ahrefs checks are prompts × platforms × 30 days. AthenaHQ credits are one per AI response.
The lesson: decide how many prompts you need before you look at entry prices. At 15 prompts Otterly is a third of the price of anything else. At 20, Peec is half the price of Otterly.
Two kinds of tool
Most products here are prompt trackers: they ask assistants your customers' questions on a schedule and record whether you're named and cited. Several also give a view of your own site, showing which AI agents read your pages: Profound and Scrunch through CDN integrations, Peec AI's crawl insights on every plan, Otterly's Agent Analytics from its $189 Standard plan, and cite-met by hosting the site. Our Observatory shows why that second view matters: AI crawlers fetched small-business sites 120 times for every visit an AI assistant sent.
If your problem is that AI can't read your site, no tracker fixes it. Run the free AI access checker before you buy anything, and see what you can track for free before you pay.
The reviews
- Otterly.AI review: the cheapest serious tracker, and where 15 prompts runs out.
- Peec AI review: clear, well-documented tracking for teams and agencies.
- Scrunch review: broad coverage plus agent analytics, at a mid-market price.
- Profound review: the enterprise platform, and why small businesses can skip it.
- Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit review: convenient for Semrush users, thin for the price.
- Ahrefs Brand Radar review: a giant prompt index for research, slow for tracking.
- cite-met review: our own product, reviewed with its weaknesses up front.
AthenaHQ is in the table but has no full review yet: its public pages don't document how it collects answers, which is a core part of our rubric. Head-to-heads are on the Compare hub.
Questions people ask
What is the best AI visibility tool for a small business?
On our rubric, weighted for a small business buying its first tool, Otterly.AI scores highest: $29 a month tracks 15 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot. Peec AI ($95) is better past about 15 prompts or for agencies.
How do you score AI visibility tools?
Six criteria from published pricing and documentation: cost for one small business (25%), engine coverage at entry (20%), data method and freshness (15%), insight and next steps (15%), view of your own site (10%) and self-serve and trial (15%). We don't score cite-met because we own it.
Did you test these tools?
No. We compared published pricing pages, help centres and documentation, checked November 1, 2026. Each review says so, and no score depends on a claim we couldn't source.
